In one of my last posts, I introduced you to my writing room.
Now, I introduce you to my new writing room.
I’ve moved home, and as a writer, I like my own space.
I like a space where I can sit down and get into the right mindset of writing. The place that tells my brain: ‘time to lock in.’
I ideally like a space that has a view. That is undisturbed from outside influences. That has room for books, and enough room for me to work at.
Ideally, it should be a separate room. Somewhere I can lock myself away.
Let me tell you about my writing room, illustrated with topless photos of me that are supposed to be arty and convey vulnerableness, but are really just shameless thirst traps.

The new writing room has a bit of that, but I now live in an open plan kitchen living room, with one bedroom, one bathroom.
I considered writing from the bedroom. It has a door, it has a window with a view.
But something about returning to work in the room I sleep in doesn’t feel right. I’d do it if it was my only option.

So, my writing room will be inside the kitchen-living room. I will dedicate a corner of the room to my writing.
My plan is to get a small table, put it halfway along one of the walls, and have a seating position where I can look out onto the balcony, and the city skyline beyond. A fun fact is that if I sit right, I will be able to see the offices of my publishers from where I write! If that’s not something to keep me focussed, then I’m lost.
Right now, all that is within the new home are suitcases and hardwood flooring, some blow up beds in the bedroom.
I’ve consigned myself to neglecting edits for my second romcom this move in week. I have to instead focus on getting furniture into this place and ordering all the essentials that I need.
But it’s not a complete switch off. I start uni to study a Masters, and I plan to immerse myself in the writing world through Substack and a copy of How Fiction Works. So far, the book feels somewhat pretentious.
I’m looking forward to making this place feel like my own. A comforting base to return back to. A home that makes me feel grounded. A creative home.
As soon as my writing set up is done, I’ll share it with you.
Until next time.
